Commercial passenger fleet visibility
Running a passenger operation from phone calls stops working as soon as you have more than a few vehicles on the road. The platform replaces that with a fleet-level view: every bus on one map, with its current status, last reported position, assigned driver and route. From the same screen you can open a single vehicle and review its trip history, stop by stop, or step back and look at the whole operation at once.
Day-to-day, most managers work from exceptions rather than watching the map. Vehicles that have not moved when they should, buses stationary far longer than a terminal turnaround, movement outside operating hours, or trips that finish well outside the expected window all surface as items to review. That keeps attention on the handful of vehicles that need it instead of the ones running normally.
Route and terminal control
Geofences turn the map into an operating tool. Draw zones around your terminals, depots, authorised stops and route corridors, and the platform logs arrivals, departures and dwell time automatically. For an operator running the Accra to Kumasi corridor, that means terminal departure discipline and rest-stop behaviour become measurable rather than reported second-hand.
Once those zones exist, deviation becomes visible. A bus leaving its corridor, stopping somewhere it should not, sitting at an unauthorised location, or moving at all outside agreed hours can each raise an alert to a named person. Trip history then provides the record afterwards, which matters when a corporate client or school administrator disputes what happened on a given day.
Driver behaviour and passenger safety
In passenger transport, driving standards are a safety issue and a brand issue at the same time. Where supported by the tracker specified for your fleet, the platform records speeding events, harsh braking, sharp acceleration, excessive idling, route deviation and unusual vehicle activity, and organises them per vehicle and per driver.
Operators use that data for coaching conversations, safe-driving incentives and accountability backed by evidence rather than hearsay. The available metrics depend on the hardware and vehicle, so the exact set for your fleet is confirmed during scoping rather than assumed.
Driver identification and vehicle control
Where compatible hardware and vehicle architecture permit, configurations can be scoped that add RFID driver identification, so a bus records which authorised driver was at the wheel for each trip, and driver-specific activity records follow from that. The same scoping covers authorised-driver access, where an unidentified driver is flagged.
Stationary immobilisation, or start-prevent, can also be scoped on suitable vehicles. It prevents a parked vehicle from being started and is used for out-of-hours protection and recovery situations. We do not supply or recommend any configuration intended to cut the engine of a moving vehicle, and would not propose one for a passenger fleet.
Fuel monitoring options
Fuel is normally the largest controllable cost in a bus operation, and it is also the area where expectations need to be set honestly. Fuel monitoring options depend on the vehicle model, ECU data availability, tracker hardware and the required level of accuracy.
Depending on the vehicle, the practical approaches are ECU or CAN data, OBD data, external fuel level sensors, or reconciliation of fuel transaction records against actual trip and idling data. Offline data and long-distance routes
Commercial passenger fleets operate through areas where cellular coverage is inconsistent, particularly on northern and cross-country corridors. A tracking system that only reports when connected leaves gaps in exactly the sections where you most want a record.
Selected hardware supports onboard storage of position records while out of coverage, with synchronisation once the connection returns, so trip history fills in rather than breaking. Storage capacity and behaviour differ between devices, so we confirm them against the specific hardware quoted for your fleet rather than quoting a general figure.
Management users and fleet reporting
Fleet decisions are made by people who were not in the dispatch office that day, so reporting matters as much as the live map. The platform reports on journeys, distance travelled, speeding, idling, driver activity, vehicle utilisation, route activity and exceptions, per vehicle or across the fleet.
Where supported by the platform configuration, those reports can be exported, scheduled to arrive on a regular cycle, and shared with separate management accounts whose permissions match each person's role. Operations plan rosters from them, finance reconciles fuel and maintenance spend, and owners see whether the operation is improving month over month. The number of user accounts and the reporting set included are confirmed in your proposal.
GPS Tracking Deployment for 10, 25, 50 or More Buses
Fitting a large passenger fleet is a project, not a sale. We run it in six stages so vehicles stay in service throughout.
Step 1: Fleet and vehicle assessment. We review your vehicle list, types, model years, depots, routes and what you need to measure.
Step 2: Hardware specification. Device and accessory selection per vehicle type, based on that assessment and on the reporting you need.
Step 3: Device and platform pre-configuration. Devices, vehicle records, groups, users, geofences and alert rules are prepared before anyone touches a bus.
Step 4: Batch installation. Vehicles are fitted in batches at your yard or another agreed location, usually grouped by depot and scheduled around off-peak periods.
Step 5: Acceptance testing. Each installed vehicle is checked for correct reporting, ignition status and accessory function before it is signed off.
Step 6: Management onboarding. Your managers are trained on the platform, and alerts and scheduled reports are configured around how your operation actually runs.
Deployment schedules are agreed based on fleet size, vehicle availability, hardware stock and installation scope. We would rather commit to a plan we can hold than to a headline number of days.
Vehicle compatibility
Hardware configuration differs by vehicle manufacturer, model, model year, engine type, electrical architecture, availability of OBD or CAN data, and the accessories required. A 2012 HiAce and a recent Coaster in the same fleet may need different installation approaches and support different telematics functions.
For fleets above roughly ten vehicles, the fastest route to an accurate proposal is a sample vehicle list with make, model and year. We scope from that and tell you plainly which functions are available on which vehicles before you commit.
Commercial fleet pricing
Multi-vehicle pricing is built from a one-time element and a recurring element. The one-time side covers tracking hardware, any optional telematics accessories such as fuel sensors or driver identification, and installation. The recurring side covers platform access, connectivity and support.
